With the recent unpredictable weather, I’ve found myself wearing long and heavy overcoats to keep me somewhat protected from the wind/rain/snow we’ve been having. I’ve become abit obsessed with overcoats so thought I’d do a blog post with my favorite ones that are available on the market right now! As always, I’ve included a selection of high street, high end and online pieces!
Grey Check Overcoat – €107
I’ve a slight obsession with checked pieces and this jacket is no exception to that! I’d treat it as a statement piece and leave the rest of my outfit very minimal in color as not to distract attention from the jacket It’s available in sizes XXS-XXL so caters for all shapes and sizes!
Camel Button-Down Overcoat – €107
No wardrobe is complete without a camel coat! This simple yet elegant piece can be paired with a 3 piece suit for a meeting/special occasion or with a casual jumper and jeans and will still look equally as impressive! This one is available is only available in a Medium and XXL so if you’re buying it, be quick as it doesn’t look like it’ll stick around for long!
Coat with Asymmetric collar – €159
I couldn’t do a post on stylish overcoats and NOT include what is probably my favorite piece of clothing. I picked this jacket up in Zara about a year ago and I am so happy that they’re still stocking it! It’s the best statement piece. It’s such a diverse piece as I’ve worn it to job interviews with suit trousers and a smart shirt and have also worn it with a casual jumper and blue jeans and both times it looked great!
This long, grey overocat is the perfect piece for winter. I always try and wear lighter, brighter colors during the spring/summer and gradually phase into darker colors/patterns as the months turn into Autumn/Winter time. The beauty of a long grey coat such as this enables total flexibility when it comes to what you wear it over. You could wear it with a smart shirt, black skinny jeans and dress shoes or you could easily wear it with a casual jumper and blue indigo skinny jeans with white runners/casual runners.
To be totally honest I was hesitant as to whether include this or not purely because I didn’t think it was worth the price. That was until I saw that its 50% wool which means you’ll be nice and toasty in it on a cold winters day!
As its one of the pricier pieces, I’d keep this coat for special occasions and would probably wear it with either a black or navy blue suit. Alternatively, I’d wear it for work with a nice crisp white shirt or a black shirt with patterned trousers. I feel that if you only wore the checked trousers rather than a full suit it wouldn’t clash too much with the pattern of the coat!
This black wool mix overcoat from ASOS is very similar to my black overcoat from River Island that I picked up in a sale a few years ago and have been in love with since.
With my black one from River Island, I tend to wear either all black with it or a grey jumper. In case you haven’t noticed by now, I keep my outfits super simple when it comes to overcoats haha!
