Fashion Faves – Patterned Shirts

Having had a rare day with no plans, I decided to have a nose around most of Grafton Street/Henry street and one thing I noticed was that shops have started bringing out bold, patterned shirts. This was a trend that I noticed emerged over the summer but the difference is in the colors that designers have used in their prints.

Instead of the lighter, pale colors they chose to go with darker, warmer colors such as dark greys and burgundys! I’ve put together a list of some of my fave shirts that I’ve bought as well as ones I’ve seen in shops recently down below!

When it comes to outfit planning and putting together a look involving a patterned/colorful item, I always make sure to have one pattern/colorful piece in the outfit and keep the rest plain/neutral/black.

H&M

Patterned Shirt

This is probably my favorite patterned shirt at the moment! I bought it on Friday in H&M on College Green for a night out at the weekend and the amount of compliments I got on it was unreal!

It’d be perfect for your upcoming office Christmas Party paired with a dark blazer, dark jeans and some dusty colored suede shoes! Alternatively, I wore it with a pair of simple black skinny jeans and black leather shoes.

Cupro-blend shirt

When I bought the shirt I mentioned above on Friday, I was feeling really indecisive so I bought three haha! The second one I bought is this cupro-blend black and white striped number which I wore for a family occassion on Sunday. I wasn’t going to keep it but really liked how comfortable it was!

This piece is very similar to a slightly lighter one I picked up in Zara a few weeks ago although it’s a much more casual version.I paired this piece with black skinnys rolled up with white runners.

The beauty of a monochrome shirt is that you can pretty much wear it with anything. This would go really well with a light blue washed pair of skinny’s and loafers or black skinny’s and black leather shoes so you’ve about four looks from the one shirt!

Stretch shirt slim fit

The third piece I bought when I went on my mini indecisive shopping spree was this shirt from the H&M x Morris & Co collection. The world renowned interiors brand recently collaborated with H&M on a capsule collection full of autumn must-haves, with a wide range of tailored coats, jackets and trousers.

I picked up a small as I thought it was big enough but sadly I was wrong. I went into the College Green branch and exchanged it for a medium and I am in LOVE with it. With a print as busy as this, it’s best to stick with black jeans and shoes as any other colour introduced would clash horrifically…

Selected Homme

Nathanfloral shirt

Selected is one of the many brands under the Bestseller umbrella which includes Vero Moda, Jack & Jones, Only and many more! They’re relatively new to the Irish market and from the looks of it, are absolutely KILLING it style wise! I was walking through Arnotts and noticed this INCREDIBLE print shirt that if I weren’t rushing, would’ve bought it straight away!

This would be PERFECT for the Christmas party or any Spring/Winter/Autumn occasion you have coming up due to the dark, warm colors as well as the mixed florals on the black background.

Selected very kindly don’t offer the option to search their clothing online but I did manage to snap a pic of the style name and number!

River Island

I couldn’t possibly do a post on patterned shirts and NOT include one of my all time fave buys- this beautiful chevron shirt from the Olly Murs x River Island collection which you can read my post on here . The two shirts included in this collection are beautiful and again, would suit any occasion from your office Christmas party down to-day two of a wedding!

I love pieces like this – one that you can wear again and again regardless of the occasion and still look good!

I really enjoy these fashion posts as it’s a big passion of mine so keep an eye out for more over the next while!

Til next time,
